Participants and testimonials

Here’s what some of the participants had to say about this school:

Simon Nehme Summer Entrepreneurship School was one of the most valuable experience I had during university. The program was well-rounded and gave me the exposure to entrepreneurship I needed to confidently begin my journey in business. Studying in a math program at the university, I rarely had the chance to present or participate in group projects. In that, the entrepreneurship program was a perfect opportunity for me to learn. Over the week, I learned how to pitch an idea to investors and improved my overall presentation skills. I enjoyed listening to guest speakers sharing their stories and struggles as entrepreneurs. I also enjoyed networking with fellow participants and becoming inspired to take on a venture myself! Thank you Midia, Hanan and Simon for making this program possible and enjoyable!

"Beyond the expert advice on my project and prizes (individual and in team), this school gave me an opportunity to strengthen my entrepreneurship skills (knowledge) and allowed me to see clearer how to transform my thesis to a company. It has also inspired me to create a similar model in my country (Mali) to contribute in preparing future generation of African Leaders in the world of business and engineering."

- Moussa Thiam, PhD Student, Department of Civil Engineering

“Simon Nehme School week was terrific and I came out with so many ideas. I came out with clear and structured action items for moving forward. It brought together fresh entrepreneurs with novel ideas and industry gurus who led us through creating our business models. A great event, packed with so much knowledge and great speakers. Definitely exceeded my expectations.”

- Shehzad Ghani, PhD Candidate, Faculty of Education

The Simon Nehme school provides you a wholistic view and insight of what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Great way to figure out whether or not entrepreneurship is for you. If you have a great idea you can pitch it to the team and if it gets voted on you have a full time team for a week to help bring this idea to life and experts to support you! Amazing experience. Would highly recommend. My best memory was hearing a fellow uOttawa student who had an idea and brought it to life. He talked about how quickly his business grew and how things work when you get angel investors, etc. I related to him completely as he is like any of us, another student at uOttawa. Most insightful and inspiring story! #WipeBook
